PRESENTATION

The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) is a platform for a multi-actor dialogue on current and emerging political issues on Internet governance ecosystems.
On 16 December 2015, the United Nations General Assembly approved the extension of the IGF’s mandate for ten years. The IGF aims to promote the sustainability, robustness, security, stability and development of the Internet, facilitating content development and access to information and knowledge. Africa’s contribution to the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) led to the creation of the Forum for Internet Governance in Africa (FGI-Af) in September 2011.

WHAT IS EXPECTING?

Awareness raising and capacity building

Increase awareness and capacity building on Internet governance for African users so that all stakeholders are well prepared for contribution and interaction.

Establishment of a coordinated African process

Establish a coordinated African process to address Internet governance issues on the continent and ensure multi-stakeholder representation from all regions of the continent.

Promoting the use of ICT in Africa

Promote the use of ICT and Interrnet in the socio-economic development of the continent and ensure that the concerns of Africa are taken into account in the IGF process.

Promotion of digital transformation

Promote access to information and knowledge, the digital transformation of Africa and the development of content and the use of African languages ​​in the cyber space.

Strengthening the dialogue model

Strengthen multi-stakeholder dialogue model for Internet governance in Africa through regional and national fora and Facilitate national and regional exchanges and interactions between countries and regions of the continent.

Facilitated participation of African actors

Ensure that all countries participate in regional processes and initiate / strengthen their national processes and Facilitate the participation of African actors in IGF-Af and other relevant regional and national Internet governance forums.
